Need a Hand Extruder for Your Project? Contact Our Supply Team.
A hand extruder, also called an extrusion welder or hand extrusion welder, is a portable welding device that melts a compatible plastic welding rod and extrudes the molten material into a prepared joint or seam. The extruded bead fuses with the parent material on both sides of the joint, producing a continuous, homogeneous weld that bonds at a molecular level.
Unlike butt fusion or electrofusion welding, which require fixed machines and controlled joint geometry, a hand extruder is operated freehand by a trained welder. This makes it the preferred tool for welding in confined areas, irregular geometries, corners, patches, pipe penetrations and any location where a fixed welding machine cannot be positioned or operated.
The WELTECH AEG Manual Extruder by Elbor Makine is manufactured to the same quality standards as the rest of the Elbor welding equipment range. Elbor Makine holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications and WRAS approval, providing the manufacturer-level quality assurance that project specifications in the UAE and GCC require.
The compact and lightweight construction allows the operator to carry the machine to the weld location and manoeuvre it freely during the weld, including in confined spaces, inside tanks, along trench walls and on sloped geomembrane surfaces.
Temperature and speed parameters are displayed in real time during operation, allowing the operator to monitor and adjust the weld conditions to match the material being welded and the ambient site conditions.
The closed-loop control system maintains the set welding temperature automatically throughout the extrusion process. This compensates for variations in extrusion speed, ambient temperature and material feed rate, producing consistent weld quality without continuous manual adjustment.
The machine is designed to produce strong, durable welds that achieve the required seam strength for the material being welded, minimising the risk of seam failure under operating conditions.
The machine requires minimal setup time and is straightforward to operate for trained welders, making it practical for on-site use in demanding project environments.

The Elbor AEG Manual Extruder is the standard tool for welding and repairing HDPE and PP geomembrane liners at corners, T-joints, penetrations and patch repairs where automatic hot wedge machines cannot operate. It is used on reservoir liners, landfill containment cells, irrigation pond liners, and environmental protection projects.
Agricultural pond liners, irrigation channels and covered reservoir projects across Saudi Arabia and Oman use hand extruders for detail welding and on-site repair work on PE and PP geomembrane and liner systems.
Chemical storage tanks, water tanks, electroplating tanks and industrial process vessels fabricated from PE or PP sheet are welded and repaired using hand extruders. The machine’s ability to weld in any orientation makes it suitable for vertical wall sections, base corners and internal baffles.
Stub flange welding and pipe joint reinforcement on HDPE and PP pipe systems, particularly at connection points and transitions where additional weld material is required.
Field repair of damaged HDPE pipeline sections, including patch welding over damage zones and sealing at penetration points through walls, slabs and chambers.

A hand extruder melts a plastic welding rod and extrudes it into a joint, producing a fillet or overlay weld. It is used for corners, patches, T-joints and irregular seams. A hot wedge welder uses a heated metal wedge pressed between two overlapping geomembrane sheets to fuse them along a straight seam. Hot wedge welders are faster for long straight runs. Hand extruders are more versatile for detail work and repair.
The Elbor AEG Manual Extruder welds PE, PP and PVDF plastic materials. This covers HDPE and MDPE pipes and sheets, polypropylene tanks and liners, geomembrane films and PVDF process pipework.
Yes. We supply from our Dubai stock to project sites across the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Contact our team at +971 4 269 3863 for current availability and delivery timelines.
The welding rod material must match the parent material being welded. For HDPE geomembrane or pipe welding, use a PE100 compatible welding rod. For PP welding, use a polypropylene rod of the same grade. Using the wrong rod material will produce an incompatible weld that will fail. Contact our team to confirm the correct rod for your material.
Yes. Correct pipe and surface preparation, temperature setting, extrusion speed and bead placement all affect weld quality significantly. We recommend that operators are trained and experienced in extrusion welding before use on critical applications such as geomembrane liners or pressure pipe repairs. Contact our team to discuss training options.
Yes. The closed-loop temperature control system compensates for high ambient temperatures to maintain consistent weld parameters. However, welding should not be carried out in direct wind or rain without a protective enclosure around the weld zone, as air movement and moisture affect weld temperature and quality.
