Polythene sheets, also known as PE sheets or polyethylene sheets, are flexible plastic films manufactured from polyethylene resin. They are available in a range of gauges, thicknesses and roll sizes to suit different load requirements, exposure conditions and applications. The gauge number refers to the thickness of the sheet. A 1000 gauge polythene sheet is 250 microns thick and is the minimum recommended specification for use as a damp-proof membrane under concrete slabs, in line with standard construction practice across the UAE and GCC.

The minimum recommended gauge for use as a damp-proof membrane under a concrete oversite is 1000 gauge, which is equivalent to a thickness of 250 microns. This is the standard specified for construction projects across the UAE and GCC. For more severe ground moisture conditions, a heavier gauge is recommended.
The standard roll size for a 1000 gauge polythene sheet is 4 metres wide by 25 metres long. For 500 gauge, the standard roll is 4 metres wide by 50 metres long. Custom lengths and widths are available on request.
500 gauge polythene sheet is 125 microns thick and is suitable for lightweight surface protection, packaging and short-term covering applications. A 1000 gauge is 250 microns thick and is the recommended specification for construction damp-proof membranes, heavy-duty surface protection and agricultural applications where durability is required.
Yes. We supply black polythene sheets for outdoor storage covering, shipment protection and agricultural mulch film applications. Black sheets provide UV resistance and prevent light penetration, making them suitable for outdoor and agricultural use.
Standard construction-grade polythene will degrade when exposed to direct sunlight over time. For applications involving prolonged outdoor UV exposure, we recommend UV-stabilised polythene sheets containing UV additive compounds, which significantly extend their service life in the high-UV conditions of the UAE summer.
